Casino (Movie Review)

Casino

The flashing lights, opulent decor, and sound of slot machines create an exciting environment to play casino games. The games combine elements of strategy and chance, making them both challenging and rewarding. They are also a great way to socialize with friends and family. Many people find that gambling is a fun and relaxing activity, which can help them relieve stress.

Casino is director Martin Scorsese dialing Goodfellas up to 11. Robert De Niro is as fantastic as ever as bookie-god Sam “Ace” Rothstein, funneling money out the back door of his Tangiers hotel and casino for mob elders back East and struggling with his drug-addicted con-artist trophy wife Ginger (Sharon Stone). Joe Pesci adds a nice dose of menace as loose-cannon mobster Nicky Santoro, who’s always looking to score a quick buck or two.

Casino is a true epic, spanning three decades and chronicling the faction of the mob that ran Las Vegas casinos. It lays bare an intricate web of corruption, with tendrils reaching into politicians, Teamsters unions, the Chicago mob, and even the Midwest mafia based out of Kansas City. Costumes by Rita Ryack and John Dunn are a feast for the eyes, from vibrant mustard yellows to electric blues to crimson blazers for Ace and glamorous cocktail dresses to tackier white leather miniskirts for Ginger.
