How to Play Poker Like a Break-Easy Player

Poker

Poker is a card game that is primarily decided by chance, but it is also a strategic game that requires a lot of thinking, calculation and bluffing. It is a fast paced game where players can win and lose significant amounts of money in short periods of time. However, it is possible to become a break-even player over the long run with simple adjustments in the way you play and think about the game.

Typically, players put in an initial amount of money to the pot before they are dealt cards (the amount varies by game). Once everyone has placed their blind or ante, they are then dealt two personal cards which are kept hidden from their opponents and five community cards are laid out on the table. The highest hand wins the pot.

Players can then choose to call, raise or fold their cards. Betting is usually done in a clockwise manner. If you have a good hand off the deal, you may want to call, but it is always important to watch your opponent’s actions. Often they will show their emotions in their body language and it is important to read them correctly. It is also a good idea to talk to your friends that play poker and ask for advice on specific hands or deeper strategy lessons. Most poker players are more than happy to help. They are also more than willing to admit when they don’t know something and can point you in the direction of someone who does.
