The game of poker has two phases – the pre-flop phase and the flop phase. The pre-flop phase involves betting and raising before the flop. The flop phase begins with 3 cards being dealt to the center of the table. The players involved in the poker round may choose to make a raise, call, or check.<\/p>\n
The two major forms of poker are draw and stud. In draw, all cards are dealt face down, while in stud, some cards are dealt face up. In both games, other players can see parts of a player’s hand, but not all of it. The earliest version of poker in Europe was probably a 17th-century French game called poque. This game evolved alongside the German game pochen and the Spanish game primero, and eventually made its way to the New World through French settlers.<\/p>\n
Poker is a gambling game where players compete to show off their best hands. Players first must ante (usually a certain amount). Once the ante is placed, they must bet into the pot in the center. The player with the highest hand wins the pot. This betting process is repeated in clockwise direction until all players have bet or folded.<\/p>\n
In addition to betting, poker players can build a fund called a kitty. The kitty is made up of low denomination chips that are cut from each pot that contains more than one raise. This fund is a pool of money that is shared among the players equally. This money is used for new decks of cards or other necessities of the game.
