Poker is a card game played in a circle by seven or more people who agree to place chips in the pot (a common amount agreed upon before the game begins). A chip is worth whatever ante or bet it is marked as. Each player also has a set of cards dealt to them, and the best hand wins the pot. There are many different rules that can be imposed, but the basic game is relatively simple.<\/p>\n
Unlike many other card games, Poker is played for real money, and there is always the possibility that someone will win all of the chips in the pot. To prevent this from happening, the players usually decide ahead of time how the winnings will be distributed once the game is over.<\/p>\n
After all the players receive their 2 hole cards, there is a round of betting, initiated by mandatory bets called blinds placed into the pot by the two players to the left of the dealer. There are often several betting intervals before the final showdown. A player may check during a betting interval, but they must call any bets made by their opponents or drop out of the game.<\/p>\n
A big part of the strategy in Poker is predicting your opponents’ reactions. This is done by studying their body language, facial expressions and other tells.
